Chef Sarah Master is a native of northern Minnesota and a graduate of the Delgado Culinary Arts program in New Orleans, Louisiana. She held jobs at the renowned Ritz-Carlton Hotel and working for James Beard Award-winning Susan Spicer at her flagship restaurant, Bayona. After returning to Minneapolis in late 2005, she spent time in the kitchens of Restaurant Alma, Spoonriver, Hotel Ivy, and Barbette. Here she learned how to cook in a nose-to-tail style, utilizing all parts of the local products she sourced. In 2014, Chef Master made the jump to the national cooking competition scene, being featured on ABC’s The Taste with host Anthony Bourdain, making it to the semi-finals.
In the summer of 2015, she became the Executive Chef and Owner of Mr. Roberts Resort and Restaurant in her hometown of Pengilly, MN. The restaurant was featured in the New York Times and was named one of the top 5 places in the state to visit in the fall. Unfortunately, due to a stagnant local economy the resort closed its doors in late 2016.
Chef Master has now landed here at the Red Stag where she brings with her an extensive knowledge of local, sustainable food, putting a fresh twist on classic Midwestern fare.
